The Engadinerhof has been an integral part of Pontresina for over 120 years - a place of encounter, relaxation and genuine hospitality. Under the motto "A Home for Generations", the hotel combines tradition and zeitgeist - and offers its guests a temporary home that connects across generations.
The Hotel Engadinerhof is built. The old farmhouse and the carpenter's workshop are joined together, 2 floors are added, and the front section (today's hall) is built in front of the current entrance to the dining room.
Interestingly, the joinery workshop is still in operation.
Garages are built on the plot opposite the hotel, which has long belonged to the Engadinerhof, as cars have been allowed in the canton of Graubünden since 1925 and more and more guests are arriving by car.
The last major structural extensions to the Engadinerhof included the kitchen extension by the dining room, the striking roundel in the hall, which was once built for dance events, and the new hotel entrance.
In the north wing, 15 rooms are being renovated, including the bathrooms, and part of the façade is being replastered.
Bertram and Corina Hissung took over the Engadinerhof and ran it successfully until 2024.
The EngadinerHof has been a place to meet and relax for over a century. Now we, Nina Lang Esche and Pascal Esche, as your new hosts, are opening a new chapter together with you.
As a group of friends and family, we have taken over the EngadinerHof - not as ordinary investors, but as people who value this house and its history from the bottom of their hearts. We plan to continue developing the EngadinerHof respectfully and with love for the old substance in order to make it a "Home for Generations".
The Engadinerhof uniquely combines Art Nouveau elements with typical Grisons architecture - a reflection of its history. We are continuing to develop the hotel with great care: our new interior concept respects the historical structures and details, carefully emphasizes them and complements them with contemporary comfort and selected modern accents. The result is a harmonious interplay of old and new - authentic, stylish and inviting.
