Our ski and bike storage room is located in the basement (–1) and can be accessed by elevator or from the outside at street level. A heating unit is available for your skis and hiking boots, as well as a shoe-cleaning machine. Please use these to ensure your equipment dries properly and the house stays clean. (We assume no liability for bicycles or ski equipment.)

If you need a ride to the Pontresina train station or the medical center, we’d be happy to arrange it through our in-house transportation service. The “Pontresina Post” bus stop is also just 120 meters from the hotel.

If you'd like to do something nice for the team, there are two donation boxes at the front desk: one for the dining and kitchen staff, and one for housekeeping, front desk, and maintenance.

Please review the evacuation plan in your room. Smoking, open flames, and the use of irons, gas stoves, or toasters in your room are prohibited by law. In partnership with Engadin Mountains, we offer the discounted “Sleep & Ski” ski pass for CHF 55.– per person per day (as of winter 2026/27). This offer is only available for the entire duration of your stay. The best way to purchase single-day passes at a discount is online at snow-deal.ch or directly at the station. (Note: The hotel no longer prints physical ski and mountain rail passes.)

Winter Hiking & Cross-Country Skiing:

  • Cross-Country Skiing: Pontresina is the ultimate cross-country skiing mecca. Right in the village, you have access to an extensive network of trails—ideal for classic-style gliding or energetic skating.
  • Winter Hiking: The enchanting, groomed trail into Val Roseg or the easy route leading directly to the foot of the Morteratsch Glacier offer wonderful opportunities to experience nature in the snow.

Ski Schools:

We recommend the Swiss Ski School in Pontresina for all ages and skill levels. The easily accessible meeting point at Languard is located right next to the hotel.

Mountain railways & public transportation included:

For stays of 2 nights or more, all mountain rail tickets and public transportation (Engadin buses, the Rhaetian Railway in the Upper Engadin, and the PostBus to Bergell) are included. You will receive an email directly from Engadin Tourism with your online ticket.

Deposit Refund: With your online ticket, you can pick up a physical card at any mountain station (deposit: CHF 10). After your stay, you’re welcome to conveniently return this card to us at the front desk, and we’ll refund your deposit.

Summer Camps for Children:

For our youngest guests, the vacation region offers exciting activity weeks in the summer (e.g., the Kids Bike League in Pontresina, rock-climbing courses, or sailing camps on the lake). Please contact us—we’d be happy to help you sign up!

For cake lovers

We recommend a hike to the Paradieshütte to all food lovers. Walk down the Via Maistra, then turn right after the Hotel Schweizerhof toward the Languard chairlift. Take the chairlift up to Alp Languard. The restaurant there is famous for its giant, homemade cream slices. If you’re still in the mood for fresh fruit cake, hike from here for about 60 minutes on a gentle uphill path to the Paradieshütte—panoramic views included.

For train enthusiasts

Enjoy a nostalgic ride on the Rhaetian Railway over the Bernina Pass to Alp Grüm. Passing the imposing Morteratsch Glacier, the train winds its way up to an altitude of over 2,000 meters. At the station restaurant there, you can enjoy authentic Puschlav pizzoccheri while taking in the view of the Palü Glacier.

For cheese lovers

At the demonstration cheese dairy near the Morteratsch train station, you can watch the cheesemakers as they craft traditional glacier cheese over an open fire. The outdoor area is the perfect spot for a hearty Alpine brunch featuring regional platters. (Walking distance from Pontresina: about 90 minutes; stroller-friendly).

For Water Lovers

Lej da Staz (Lake Staz) is the most popular swimming lake in the region. Because it’s located in a marsh, it warms up faster than the larger lakes. The idyllic walk through the Staz Forest takes about 45 to 60 minutes from Pontresina. Barbecue areas are available for free use at the lake.

For Families & Animal Lovers

  • Ibex Paradise Loop Trail: An educational trail right in Pontresina. In the spring and early summer, you can often spot these majestic animals with binoculars right on the terraced slopes of Alp Languard.
  • Horse-drawn carriage rides to Val Roseg: A romantic experience for all ages. Let a horse-drawn carriage take you to the car-free Val Roseg for a dessert buffet at the Hotel Roseg Gletscher. (Scheduled carriages depart from the Pontresina train station, or make a reservation through our front desk.)
  • Feeding Squirrels: If you’re patient, you’ll encounter tame squirrels and forest birds along the path to Lake Stazersee—they’ll often eat nuts right out of your hand.

For Culture Lovers

  • Camerata Pontresina: A musical highlight! From late June through mid-September, the chamber orchestra enchants audiences with open-air concerts in the mornings in the Taiswald (or in the Rondo in case of bad weather). Free with the guest card.
  • Museum Alpin & Sgraffito Tour: Right next to our house, the Museum Alpin offers insights into traditional home life and alpinism. Combine this with a stroll through the neighborhoods of Laret and Giarsun to admire the ornate sgraffito facades and the Spaniola Tower (13th century).
  • Segantini Museum (St. Moritz): The impressive works of the high-mountain painter Giovanni Segantini are perfectly showcased under the museum’s large dome. (Bus lines 602 and 605, Segantini Museum stop).

For Glacier Lovers

  • Morteratsch Glacier: The themed trail starting at the Morteratsch train station climbs gently and leads directly to the tongue of the retreating glacier (about 50 minutes each way). Those who wish to set foot on the eternal ice can book a safe, guided tour through the Pontresina Mountaineering School.
  • Cavaglia Glacier Garden: On a loop trail that takes you past 30 glacial mills and the striking Cavagliasco Gorge, you can marvel at a train station located below Alp Grüm. Admission is free with a guest card.

For lovers of the old days

Since your stay at our hotel already immerses you in a bygone era, we recommend these excursions so you can experience the history of the Engadin even more deeply:

  • Engadin Museum (St. Moritz): Fascinating home decor from past centuries, featuring historic rooms and chests.
  • Casa Tomé (Poschiavo): This magnificently preserved 14th-century farmhouse offers a vivid glimpse into everyday rural life of that era.
  • Chesa Planta (Samedan): This imposing patrician mansion, built in 1595, features magnificent living quarters once occupied by the Graubünden nobility and houses a historical library.

The Engadin offers the right route for every fitness level. Please note that we are located at an elevation of approximately 1,800 meters above sea level. Assess your fitness level realistically, make sure to wear sturdy shoes, and bring plenty of water. For leisurely walks, we recommend the side valleys (Val Roseg, Val Fex, Val Bever). If you have any questions, we’d be happy to advise you in person!
